2013 Spring REGISTRATION Spring 2013
Dear Parents
We are pleased to open up Registration for the 2013 Spring Lacrosse season. Feel free to forward this email along to any friends you feel may want to join Livingston Junior Lancer Lacrosse who has never played with us before. Registration details are as follows:
- On Line - Go to our Website at www.LivingstonLacrosse.org and register your child now.
- In-Person - Saturday, Dec 8 from 12 PM to 3:00 pm at the Community Center. Coaches and League officials will be to answer any questions.
- Waiting Lists & Late Fees - Registration for Grades 2-8 will close on Dec 31, 2012 after which there will be a $50 Late Fee and openings will be available only if there is space.
- There is no late fee for Super Scoopers (Grades K-1); Registration remains open after 12/31.
We are excited to announce the expansion of our In-Town Leagues. This will enable more of our boys and girls to play with more touches and playing time in games.
Why more In-Town?
- In-Town games allow for twice as many Livingston players on the field at one time as does a Travel game
- In-Town Leagues allow us to control the level of competition, the rules, playing time and, most importantly, more opportunities for “touches” than if we play only travel.
- For new players in particular, the In-Town League allows them to learn the game in a much more controlled environment and, again, they get more playing time than if they are on Travel team and are watching during the first few Travel games as they catch up to others who, because they have been playing longer, may be more experienced.
Here is the breakout of our programs for Boys:
K-1 – Super Scoopers – Once per week training of fundamentals and fun lax games
2nd - 3rd Grade – In Town League
4th - 5th Grade – In Town League and Travel Team – In-Town with Travel team to be chosen based on commitment to EXTRA practice and games
6th - 8th Grades – Travel Teams only – team composition based on Grade and/or skill depending upon number of boys who register
Girls Programs
Please note: The Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association or JGLA – the league to which we belong - has changed team structures from being “grade based” to “age based”. So for Registration, you will need to register your daughter by her age group. That noted, we will do our utmost to keep the girls in a particular grade together as best possible (we can always move a girl up one level). Here is the breakout and format for the girls – the on-line Registration form shows the birthdates for each age group:
K-1 – Super Scoopers – Once per week training of fundamentals and fun lax games
U-9 - 2nd and 3rd Graders – In-Town League
U- 11 – Primarily 4th and 5th graders – In-Town with Travel team to be chosen based on commitment to extra practice and games and skill
U-13 - Primarily 6th graders and some 7th graders – Travel team
U-15 – Primarily for 8th graders and 7th grade– Travel Team
Fees
This year, the Township of Livingston is requiring our program – and all programs that use Township Maintained Fields - to pay an $8 per child field usage fee. Combined with increased costs for referees and equipment, we have raised our fees slightly. Players in grades 3-6 who also play Travel will pay the differential in the fees at the time they join the Travel Team
As always, there is a family discount and anyone requiring financial aid may request it.
- Super Scoopers - $ 110
- In-Town League - $150
- Travel Team - $ 210 (6th – 8th grade travel players will also be required to purchase a uniform in early January)
Once again, we will have Winter Clinics for new and returning players.
Dates: Every Friday Night, Jan 2013- February 2013
Times:
6:30- 7:30 – 3rd – 4th grades (boys and girls)
7:30 – 8:30 5th - 8 grades (boys and girls)
Place: Millburn Sports Academy
Cost and Registration information will be available shortly.
Parent Volunteers
We anticipate our largest turnout ever, and hope that you will consider volunteering your time. We will teach you the sport if you want to help on the field - we especially need parents to help at practices and with the coaches we have in place, we guarantee you will learn the sport – and of course, anyone wishing to volunteer in some off the field manner (organization, fund raising events like our Face off Dinner, scheduling, Registration, etc.) is greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to contact me or any Board Member with any questions.
We look forward to the Spring and another great season!
